Milena Lewis (she/her/hers)
I got my Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Bryn Mawr College. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I took classes like Ecology and Plant Biotechnology, which piqued my interest in how studying biochemical processes in photosynthetic organisms can help solve many pertinent issues in today’s climate. I will be joining the He lab in the Fall of 2026 as a PhD student, and I am super excited to study the molecular mechanisms involved in the algal carbon-concentrating mechanism (CCM), which are crucial for carbon sequestration.
Outside the lab, I keep myself busy with lots of hobbies, including baking, reading, aerial dance, backpacking, playing violin, and watching comedy and mystery shows!
